About BEST Advice

Welcome to Best Advice, the one-stop internet site for advice and guidance for parents. We want to help you help your children. Even if you don't have a computer we are happy for you to contact us for advice and guidance. See below

What we're about

We offer support in particular to parents as your children attempt to navigate themselves through the murky transition from childhood to young adulthood. We aim to offer parents guidance and advice as young people face the same pressures and worries that we grew up with - plus a whole host of new ones! We work alongside official health and education websites to ensure that the information we provide is coherent and reliable.

What we do

Here at Best Advice we do just what it says on the can: we aim to give you, the parents, the very best, relevant advice surrounding the problems that will inevitably affect your children in one way or another.

We aim to follow the "Every Child Matters (ECM)" objectives that focus on giving all children, regardless of their social, cultural or family circumstances the opportunity to:

  • Be happy
  • Stay safe
  • Enjoy and achieve
  • Make a positive contribution
  • Achieve economic well- being

Who we are

The site is run and supported by B.E.S.T (Bedfordshire East Schools Trust) and the Extended Services department, who provide additional school based services for children and their families.B.E.S.T. - Bedfordshire East Schools Trust

If you have any questions or feedback do not hesitate to contact the Extended Services Co-ordinator, Mick Child.

How to use the site

The site is designed to give you information on your particular problem, so you will leave here knowing more than you did. Its aim is also to signpost you to the service providers, nationally and locally, who can offer you further help.

To start your search you can go to the BEST Advice Homepage where you will see the different categories featured. From there you can browse the site or use the Google Site Search facility to investigate the particular area of concern to you. Alternatively, of course, you can go straight to any of the categories using the menu on this page.

What if you don't have a computer?

Getting Best Advice when you haven't got a computer. Here at Best Advice we are always aware that not everyone has a computer at home, or has easy access to one. Even if there is a computer in the house, not everyone is able to use one. So if that's the case, how can the information on this site be accessed? If you have found anything on this site useful and you mention it to someone else who doesn't have a computer and you are a parent of a child at any of the schools in the Samuel Whitbread pyramid in central Bedfordshire, then give them the telephone number shown here and get them to call.

The number will connect you to Mick Child, the Extended Services Manager for the Central Bedfordshire area. He will either be able to direct you to an open access computer at one of the child care centres or schools in the area, so you can pop in and get the advice or he will arrange to meet you at your child's school and arrange for a computer to be available so you can access the site that way.

If you live outside the area then Mick can't really help, so a call to your local Extended Services Manager may help to get you and a schools based computer together, or simply provide you with the information you need.

If you have a child at any of the schools in the Samuel Whitbread pyramid, you can call Mick Child on: 07824-565-767
